UCDavis Letters & typography final project: eastbayeats
Date Completed: March 2023
Course:
Fundamentals of letterforms and typography. Characteristics of typefaces; formatting and composition of type. Principles of legibility, visual hierarchy, grid systems, and the integration of type and image.
Assignment:
Students were tasked to apply what they learned about letterforms and typography to a final 16-spread book that each student would design independently for the final exam. Students were given the freedom to decide the topic, create content, and pick design choices for their books. Students received feedback from fellow students and the professor, over three weeks and presented their final designs to peers and guest professors.
My Idea:
For this project, I knew that I wanted to revamp an idea that I had when I was at Santa Barbara City College. I wanted to use what I had learned not only in this class but in my last year growing as a designer to make this idea more realistic.
